The American Legion, Disney-Bell Post 66, is sponsoring a
Blue Star Memorial Tree that will be decorated between November 23rd and
December 25th. The Bowie community is invited to participate by bringing
ornaments that will honor the service of a family member, past or present.
The official tree lighting for the community will be on
December 8, at 4:00 p.m. and all are invited to attend.
To honor a veteran you may bring a decoration or the Post
will provide you with a replica Blue Star Banner to place on the tree. If
donors wish to retrieve ornaments they may do so between January 5 and
January 12. Ornaments will be discarded after the event. Stop by Post
66 and drop ornaments off anytime after 1:00 p.m. on November 23rd, until
December 25th, during normal hours of operation.
If you would like a Blue Star Service Banner, please provide
us with your address and phone number, and the name(s) of the families’
veteran(s). A Post officer will deliver the Blue Star Banner to your home.
