Membership in the American Legion

The American legion is an organization of veterans serving other veterans, their families and communities. The legion serves as the veteran's voice in Washington, fighting for the benefits and rights of those who served our country in the armed forces.

 

Bowie, February 23, 2008. 221 Members are suspended for not paying their 2008 dues. Are you one of them? Check the list, you may have forgotten to renew your membership.

  • Why should I join?

    • Well, If you're an eligible veteran, then first, because you can! You've earned it!

    • The American Legion is the world's largest veteran organization

    • Our local Post has many activities for the entire family.

    • You will get a cool local newsletter each month and the monthly Legion magazine, both full of topical information.

    • Your membership makes you eligible for many benefits provided by the national organization.
       

  • How much does it cost?

    • Annual dues for Post 66 are $25
      (unless you are currently on active duty, then we will pay the first year for you.)
       

  • Can my spouse or children join also?

  • Sign me up!

  • OK, I'm eligible for membership. I've filled out the form. And I have $20 - now what?

    • Bring the membership application, $25, and a copy of your DD-214 form to the Post.
       

    • Or you can mail everything to the Post.
