Disney-Bell Post 66 celebrated our
70th birthday with a great dinner and program on Saturday, March 9th.
This is an annual event at the Post where we
honor members who have served the Legion over the years and initiate
(welcome) new members. We also take time to honor some of our veterans
from Charlotte Hall Veterans Home and invite them to join us for the
evening.
The Post took this opportunity to present
checks to both the cub scout pack and boy scout troops we sponsor, as
well as $1,500 to the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department. Several new
members were installed, and we welcome them to Post 66. Newest (just
signed last night) is Dennis Brady, Bowie City Councilman. That makes
three councilman and the mayor as members of Post 66. Longevity pins
were also awarded to members and the winner last night was Clyde
Durst, who received his 55 years continuous membership pin.
Department of Maryland Third Vice Commander Ed White was a special guest
and he made a few appropriate remarks to everyone. As always, it was a
great event.
Take a few minutes, see the pictures and see
how many people you know.
